New Music Tuesday: Week of July 20
Rick Ross Teflon Don
Rapper Rick Ross, who got his name from the infamous drug trafficker Ricky Ross, is back with his fourth solo album Teflon Don. The first single from the album is titled Super High, which features Ne-Yo, and the video for the song starred actress Stacey Dash. The single reached 100 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album contains a stellar lineup of collaborations, including Jay-Z, John Legend, Cee-Lo, T.I., Jadakiss, Erykah Badu, Kayne West, Trey Songz, Diddy, Styles P, Drake, Chrisette Michele and Raphael Saadiq.
Not on the album, however is rapper 50 Cent, with whom Ross has a very public history of feuding. In 2009, Ross accused 50 Cent of giving him dirty looks at the BET Awards, although 50 Cent denies even looking at Ross. Ross also released a song Mafia Music, which contained lyrics that seemed to be a direct jab at 50 Cent. In return, 50 Cent released "Officer Ricky (Go Head, Try Me)" and Warning Shot that were directly targeted at Ross.
The album title Teflon Don is in reference to Mafia man John Gotti, who was nicknamed Teflon Don.
