Jersey Shore’s Snooki Has Only Read Two Books in Her Life; Dad Doesn't Get Her Popularity

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi of MTV’s Jersey Shore could probably write a book about tanning, but the 22-year-old apparently hasn’t read many books.  In an interview published Friday in the New York Times, the 4-foot-9-inch Snooki reveals that she has only read two books in her entire life, Twilight and Dear John.

-- Snooki was born in Chile, but adopted as an infant and raised as an only child by an Italian-American family in the upstate New York town of Marlboro.

-- Her father, auto salvage manager Andy Polizzi, is still trying to figure out his daughter’s appeal, telling the Times, “When we go to venues...she’ll be up there hooting and hollering, and I’ll say to someone, ‘What is it that draws you to my daughter?  Be honest because it’s very hard for me to see what it is.  She don’t sing.  She don’t dance.  I don’t want to say she don’t have talent...” Polizzi then adds, “Everyone says they can relate to her.  I think [she’s] just a likeable person.”

-- When asked if she was inspired by any movie actresses, Snooki replied: “I really liked [Clueless star] Brittany Murphy.  Yeah, I looked up to her.  She had a dorky personality, like me. It was sad that she died.”

-- Childhood friend Stephanie Greiner tells the Times that Snooki “loves to be the center of attention,” and reveals that the reality star was “kind of a mean girl in high school.”  Greiner adds, “She was the boss of everybody.”
